Ride-Hailing Driver Killed by Passenger Who Ran Him Over Multiple Times
A 74-year-old ride-hailing driver in Arizona is dead after a female passenger allegedly ran him over multiple times with his own car in Phoenix. Jordan Spalding, 31, is charged with second-degree murder and has a bond set at $1 million.
According to authorities, the incident occurred on Tuesday evening, when Samuel Webster, the ride-hailing driver, was involved in a crash with a pedestrian. Webster was pronounced dead at a hospital after suffering severe injuries.
Witnesses and video surveillance revealed that Webster and Spalding had gotten into an argument before the incident. Spalding allegedly got back into the car and ran Webster over multiple times. Spalding claimed that Webster had tried to rape her, but authorities found no evidence to support this claim.
Additionally, Spalding admitted to using fentanyl earlier in the day. The authorities did not confirm which ride-hailing company Webster worked for.
