President-elect Trump is expected to name Sean Curran, the head of his personal Secret Service security detail, as the agency’s next director. Curran was among the agents who rushed on stage to shield Trump with their bodies during a failed assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, that left two dead and Trump with an injury to his ear. Curran has been pictured at Trump’s side on several occasions and even has fans on TikTok. The attempt on Trump’s life led to intense scrutiny of the U.S. Secret Service and the resignation of Director Kimberly Cheatle. Despite the mistakes made during the attempted assassination, Bill Gage, a former Secret Service agent, praised the agents assigned to Trump and Curran, saying they performed exactly as trained. Curran’s selection as director has been welcomed by some, including Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., who called him “a great patriot” who will “stop all the insanity once and for all.”
