PGA Tour Golfer Sam Burns Shows Support for President-elect Donald Trump with MAGA Cap and Deer Photo
PGA Tour golfer Sam Burns has shown support for President-elect Donald Trump by posting a photo of himself wearing a camouflaged “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) cap and posing with a buck he had just killed. The post, made on social media on Monday, includes the caption “Deer hunting is great again!”
This is not the first time professional athletes have expressed support for Trump. Several professional athletes, including UFC fighters, football players, golfers, and soccer stars, have shown support for the president-elect by doing his dance or flashing the MAGA hat.
Former NFL star Brian Urlacher hypothesized that professional athletes are more likely to openly show their support for Trump now that he has been elected, citing a sense of safety and a lack of fear of backlash. “People were scared for a while,” Urlacher said. “You don’t want people to talk bad about you, how we’ve been talked about the last four years if you’re a Donald Trump supporter… I think now, no one’s scared anymore. It’s nice to see these guys coming out and everyone who’s a silent Trump supporter – he under pols always. … I think they’re just excited now that he got the job done, and he’s gonna get the job done the next four years.”
Burns, who made his PGA Tour debut in 2017, has won five events since then and has finished as high as tied for ninth at a major, which was at the 2024 U.S. Open.
