Howard, 23, has had a career year, throwing for 3,779 yards and 33 touchdowns against 10 interceptions. He’s also gotten more comfortable with his feet, rushing for seven scores. Howard’s personal faith has also played a big role in his season, with the quarterback frequently referencing his faith in interviews.
In his post-game comments, Howard has often thanked his “Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ” for giving him the opportunity to play at the highest level. He’s also credited his faith with helping him through the ups and downs of his season. “Trust in the Lord and lean on Him” has been a key mantra for Howard, who has said that when he comes to God in a humble way, it changes his perspective.
The Buckeyes’ confidence is high going into Monday’s title game, with Howard at the helm. The game kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
