Los Angeles Rams Players and Coaches Show Support for LAFD with Unique Uniforms
During their wild-card playoff game against the Minnesota Vikings on Monday night, the Los Angeles Rams showed their support for the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) in a special way. The players warmed up wearing “LAFD” T-shirts and hats, while coaches were seen on the sideline sporting the same apparel.
The game was relocated from SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California to State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, due to the recent spate of wildfires that devastated the city of Los Angeles. Some Rams players were forced to evacuate their homes, and the team had to hold practice on Friday, followed by a relocation to Arizona and a night in hotels without their families.
The decision to move the game was made in consideration of public safety, according to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. “What the people in Los Angeles are going through, the devastation, the loss, the heartache all of us feel for them, we knew the game couldn’t be played there by Thursday,” Goodell said. “The public safety and compromising any of that was not something we do. And we wanted to make sure the focus for the first responders was taking care of the people that are struggling out there so much.”
Over 45,000 Rams fans made the trip to Arizona to cheer on their team, a remarkable display of solidarity. The Los Angeles Chargers also showed support for the LAFD during their playoff game against the Houston Texans, further demonstrating the commitment to helping those affected by the devastating wildfires.
