Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has cleared concussion protocol and will make his first start since suffering the injury in a Wild Card playoff game against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. Hurts doesn’t remember what happened in the moment he suffered the concussion, which occurred in the first half against the Washington Commanders in Week 16. This will be his first time returning from a concussion, and he acknowledged that being out of his regular routine has been challenging.
Hurts credited his faith for helping him get through the experience and said that everything is fine now. He joins a growing list of NFL players who have suffered concussions this season, including Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence, and New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave.
At the high school and youth levels, multiple teenage players have died in 2024 from brain injuries. The NFL has been working to raise awareness about concussions and to improve safety measures to prevent injuries.
