Witness speaks out on New Orleans attack: ‘One of most evil things possible’
NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) — A disturbing attack on a Bourbon Street unleash chaos in New Orleans over the weekend, leaving millions in shock. According to multiple witnesses, the was a brutal and unprovoked assault on a man leaving a popular bar on Bourbon Street.
“I was walking out of the bar with my friends, and then we saw it happen,” said witness Rachel Lopez. “It was one of the most evil things possible. He just attacked her out of nowhere, nobody did anything to help. It was like they were all in shock.”
Lopez described the attacker as a white male, around 5’10” with a thin build, wearing a light blue shirt and ripped jeans. She said he grabbed the woman and began punching her in the head and chest, leaving her lying on the pavement.
“It was like a vicious beating, like he was trying to kill her,” Lopez said. “We were all just standing there, frozen, nobody knew what to do. We were all in shock.”
The victim, a 25-year-old woman, was taken to the hospital for treatment, according to police. The New Orleans Police Department is still searching for the suspect.
Lopez, who has lived in New Orleans for 10 years, said it’s not like this to see something like this happen on Bourbon Street.
“Usually, this street is so safe, you can come out at night, it’s like an extension of the city,” she said. “This is not like this, this is not New Orleans. This is something from a movie. This is not what we’re used to.”
