Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry is pushing for the Sugar Bowl to be further postponed after a terror attack in the Paris suburb of Porte de Chatillon on December 11 left three people injured.

Landry expressed his concern that the heightened security measures taken by authorities would hinder the safe and enjoyable experience of fans at the game. “I do not think it is wise for us to push forward with a major event at this time when there are real concerns about terrorism and public safety,” Landry said in a statement.

He added that with the ongoing crisis in Europe and the recent incident in Paris, it would be better to err on the side of caution and delay the Sugar Bowl until conditions improve. Landry also highlighted the importance of ensuring the security and well-being of the public, particularly at large events where crowds gather.

The Sugar Bowl, which features the University of Oklahoma and University of Auburn football teams, was originally scheduled for January 2. However, it was recently postponed to January 13.
