An Alabama mother, Wendy Pamela Bailey, 22, has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of abuse and neglect after allegedly informing investigators that her one-year-old son, Kahleb Rowan Collins, had died. The investigation began when Bailey was involved in a fatal car accident that claimed the lives of Steven Bradley Collins, 40, and Ryleigh Collins, 2, and Kahleb was reported missing.
A search for Kahleb led authorities to believe that he was deceased and had been for some time. Evidence suggested that Steven Collins, the father, had abused the boy, and Bailey had failed to intervene or report the abuse. Photos allegedly showed Kahleb with severe injuries, including blood on his face and body, and bruises on his body.
Bailey was questioned by investigators and allegedly told them that she knew the body had been placed in a storage shed. The exact location of Kahleb’s body has not been recovered, although law enforcement teams are continuing to search for his remains.
Bailey’s arrest and charges come after an investigation by the 24th Circuit District Attorney’s Office and the Alabama State Bureau of Investigation. The case is ongoing, and Bailey is currently being held in custody pending further proceedings.
