San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy suffered an elbow injury in Monday night’s loss to the Detroit Lions, as he was seen trying to throw a football on the sideline before exiting the game. The injury sparked concerns given Purdy’s previous UCL tear in the 2022 NFC Championship Game, which required surgery and an extended rehabilitation period.

Head coach Shanahan expressed relief and a lack of immediate concern regarding the injury, stating that he would decide on the team’s starting quarterback for Week 18 later in the day. If Purdy’s season does come to a close, he would finish with 3,864 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions in a 2024 season marked by injuries for the 49ers.

Purdy’s rookie contract is set to expire in 2025, and with an expected big-money extension likely on the horizon, he will enter an important offseason as he prepares to enter the final year of his deal.
