Washington Commanders safety Jeremy Reaves proposed to his longtime girlfriend Mikaela Worley on the field following his team’s 30-24 overtime win against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday night. Reaves, who had two tackles in the game, said he had been planning to propose earlier, but decided to wait until the team’s first playoff appearance since 2020. He told reporters that he couldn’t have proposed during a loss and wanted to celebrate their win. Reaves praised Worley, saying she was his best friend since high school and had been supportive of him through his struggles last year.
Reaves joined the Commanders as an undrafted free agent in 2018 and worked his way up to become an impact player, earning Pro Bowl and All-Pro selections in 2022. However, he had to undergo surgery to repair a partially torn ACL in the 2023 season, which kept him sidelined. He has played in every game this season, helping his team secure their playoff spot.
Worley is a former collegiate volleyball player, having played for Louisiana-Monroe. She and Reaves have been dating for a while, and he credits her for being his rock during tough times.
