Carson Beck’s Collegiate Career Comes to an End as He Declares for 2025 NFL Draft
Georgia quarterback Carson Beck announced on social media Saturday that he would be declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft, just five days after undergoing season-ending elbow surgery. The surgery was necessary to repair the ulnar collateral ligament in his throwing arm, which he injured in the first half of the SEC championship game earlier this month.
Beck, who was Georgia’s starter for the past two seasons, posted a heartfelt message on Instagram, expressing gratitude for his time at the University of Georgia and the support he received from his family, friends, and fans. He also expressed his thanks to God for the opportunity to play the game he loves.
“This past five years at the University of Georgia have been nothing short of a dream come true, and I will forever cherish the memories that have been made,” Beck said. “Thank you, Dawg Nation, for the time I’ve been here and to those who’ve supported and believed in me, thank you. It’s been an incredible journey, and all these moments have ultimately led me to take the next step in my football career. With that being said, I will be declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft. Go Dawgs!”
Although Beck has another year of eligibility, he has chosen to forgo it and pursue a professional career in the NFL. During his time at Georgia, he accumulated a 24-3 record as the team’s starting quarterback. He is expected to begin throwing again in the spring.
Georgia’s backup quarterback, Gunner Stockton, will now take over as the team’s starter, with the Bulldogs set to face Notre Dame in the CFP quarterfinals in the Sugar Bowl on Wednesday.
