Incoming Border Czar Requests $86 Billion from Congress to Fund Mass Deportation Plan
Incoming border czar Tom Homan has announced that the White House will require $86 billion from Congress to kick-start the Trump administration’s mass deportation plan. Homan, the former acting ICE director, believes that the effort will be expensive in the short term but will ultimately save billions of dollars for taxpayers.
Homan’s plan includes increasing the number of detention beds from the current capacity of several tens of thousands to 100,000, as well as providing funding for additional detention beds, deportation flights, and medical care during the process.
Trump has vowed to start the largest deportation operation in American history on his return to the White House, and Homan has been tapped to spearhead the effort. The first focus will be on illegal migrants who have committed crimes, and Homan has stated that the effort will not be hindered by “Sanctuary City” leaders who oppose federal immigration authorities. Despite the cost, Homan believes that the effort will be worth it, saying it will make the country “safer, better, and more prosperous.”
