A Dead Body Was Found in the Wheel Well of a United Airlines Plane in Maui, Hawaii
A shocking discovery was made on Christmas Eve when a dead body was found lodged in the wheel well of a United Airlines plane that had just landed in Maui, Hawaii. The plane, Flight 202, took off from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport on Tuesday morning and arrived at Kahului Airport around 2:12 pm.
The body was discovered in the landing-gear wheel well, an area that can only be accessed from outside the plane. Officials did not immediately have an explanation for the grisly discovery, but sources told local outlet Hawaii News Now that the body was male.
At this time, it is not clear how or when the person accessed the wheel well, and the airline is working with law enforcement on the incident. The Maui Police Department is conducting an active investigation and no further details are available.
Despite the discovery, the airport is conducting operations as normal, and flights were not affected by the grim finding. Separately, air travel was thrown into chaos on Tuesday when American Airlines temporarily grounded all of its flights over technical issues, causing delays for nearly 900 flights across the country.
