Questions Persist around Titans Quarterback Will Levis

Entering the season, there were doubts surrounding the ability of big-armed quarterback Will Levis to thrive in first-year head coach Shane Callahan’s system. While some moments of brilliance flashed early on, Levis ultimately struggled to make the correct reads and turn the ball over. Despite receiving copious amounts of coaching, the turnovers persisted.

“He’s shown improvement, and there are a lot of things he’s improved on,” Callahan explained after the decision to bench Levis. “However, it hasn’t been consistent enough, and those aren’t easy decisions.”

Backup quarterback Mason Rudolph takes over for Levis in a move that has sent shockwaves through the football world. This marks Rudolph’s second stint in the starting lineup this month, having taken over after Christmas week last season following Kenny Pickett’s injury.

Rudolph’s performance in relief showed promise, completing 80% of his passes for 209 yards, including two touchdowns and one interception. The decision to turn to the veteran has spawned questions about the future direction of the Titans’ quarterback position.

With only a few weeks remaining in the season, the Titans might explore options like quarterback Sam Darnold or target future prospects in the upcoming NFL draft. Currently sitting fifth overall, the franchise needs to weigh its priorities: bolstering the position quickly or developing a younger solution for the long term.
