Seahawks Quarterback Geno Smith Exits Game with Knee Injury, Tests Reveal No Major Damage
Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith left Sunday’s 30-13 loss to the Green Bay Packers with a knee injury, but coach Mike Macdonald provided encouraging news on Monday. According to Macdonald, tests on Smith’s right knee did not reveal any major injury, and he is hopeful that the veteran quarterback will be available for next weekend’s game against the Minnesota Vikings.
Smith was hit low by Packers linebacker Edgerrin Cooper, who rolled over his ankle, causing him to limp off the field and throw his helmet in frustration. He did not return to the game, but Macdonald said that Smith’s knee “structurally, looks like it’s OK.”
Despite the injury, Macdonald is optimistic that Smith will be ready to practice throughout the week and play in the upcoming game. Smith is a tough player who is known for his ability to work through injuries, and Macdonald believes that he will be able to do the same this time around.
Sam Howell replaced Smith in the game and completed just 5 of 14 passes for 24 yards with zero touchdowns and an interception. The Seahawks dropped into a tie with the Los Angeles Rams atop the division with the loss.
