Tim Kennedy, a Green Beret and former UFC star, revealed in a social media post that he once competed in a military reality television competition with Matthew Livelsberger, the suspect involved in the Las Vegas Cybertruck explosion. Kennedy and Livelsberger partnered in the History Channel’s “Ultimate Soldier Challenge” over a decade ago. Kennedy shared a photo of himself and Livelsberger on Instagram, stating that he was “flabbergasted” to learn that Livelsberger was the driver of the Tesla Cybertruck that blew up outside Trump International Hotel Las Vegas on New Year’s Day.

According to Kennedy, Livelsberger was a “sincere, hard-working, talented, and competent Special Forces operator” during their time together on the show. Kennedy expressed confusion and a desire for answers regarding Livelsberger’s actions, saying that none of it makes sense.

Police identified Livelsberger, 37, as the driver of the vehicle, stating that he was shot in the head in what they believe was a self-inflicted gunshot prior to the detonation of the vehicle. Livelsberger was a U.S. Army special operations soldier who was on leave from Germany, where he was serving with the 10th Special Forces Group.
