On Saturday night, Colorado Buffaloes star Travis Hunter claiming the 2024 Heisman Trophy Award. On Sunday morning, Pro Football Hall of Famer Charles Woodson praised Hunter’s extraordinary season on “FOX NFL Kickoff”. Woodson, a former Heisman winner and two-way player, said, “It brought me great joy to see you up there on that stage last night because you are what the Heisman Trophy is all about… it’s not about the best running back, receiver, or quarterback, it is about the best player, and you were that.”
Woodson credited coach Prime (Deion Sanders) for allowing Hunter to play offense and defense and making all the plays in every game. He also joked that he and Hunter would have fun with the Heisman commercials on defense against offensive players, saying, “The Heisman House is going to be lit. Congratulations to you, man.”
Hunter’s impressive season saw him totaling 92 receptions for 1,152 yards and 14 touchdowns on offense, leading the Big 12 in receptions and TDs. On defense, he had four interceptions, a conference-best 11 passes defended, and 32 combined tackles, earning him Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year honors.
Hunter has declared for the 2025 NFL Draft and is expected to play in the Alamo Bowl against BYU on December 28. NFL teams are considering him a top-five pick, with the possibility of being a primary cornerback who occasionally plays wide receiver. FOX Sports NFL Insider Peter Schrager notes that he could be a top pick, but if not, the New York Giants, Las Vegas Raiders, and Jacksonville Jaguars might be interested. FOX Sports NFL Draft Analyst Rob Rang has Hunter going No. 1 to the Giants in his latest mock draft.
