Murray left the game in the first quarter after feeling an injury while driving into the lane and attempting a shot. He then hobbled to the Pelicans’ bench, where he was subsequently ruled out for the rest of the game.

Although Pelicans coach Willie Green did not provide an immediate update on the severity of the injury, the team announced that Murray would not return to the game and would undergo further evaluation and imaging to determine the full extent of the damage.

The injury is another blow to the Pelicans, who were already dealing with a slew of absences. They were without key players Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram, and Herb Jones due to various injuries.

“It’s extremely difficult, when you see a guy that means so much to our team and puts the work in go down like that,” said Green. “We’ll continue to pray for him and see what happens once he gets the imaging.”

The team will now have to navigate the remainder of the season without one of its key contributors, a challenging task given their already-thin roster.
