The Kansas City Chiefs experienced a seamless transition in their special teams unit when kicker Harrison Butker was injured. During his absence, replacements Spencer Shrader and Matthew Wright showed great success.
Shrader and Wright played in two games and combined to make 11 of 12 field goal attempts and all eight point-after attempts. Notably, each kicked 31-yard field goals as time expired in wins over Week 12 and Week 14, with Wright’s game-winning kick securing the Chiefs’ ninth consecutive AFC West title.
In an eight-year career marked by clutch performances, Butker has also excelled this season. He nailed a 44-yard field goal in Week 2 against the Bengals, sparking a string of walk-off wins. Having converted 18 of 20 field goal attempts and 21 of 22 point-after attempts, Butker is poised to resume his season against the Browns on Sunday.
