49ers’ GM delivers verdict on Brock Purdy’s future.

A Tough Season for Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers

It was a challenging season for the San Francisco 49ers, and it also marked the worst stretch for quarterback Brock Purdy, the team’s starter. Despite the team’s struggles, General Manager John Lynch has expressed interest in keeping Purdy with the organization for a long time.

Purdy’s performance this season was marked by a decline in his numbers, throwing for approximately 400 fewer yards and 11 fewer touchdowns than in 2023. He also threw one more interception this season. His quarterback rating dropped from 107.3 and 113.0 in 2023 to 96.1.

Despite the team missing the playoffs for the first time since 2020, Lynch remains committed to retaining Purdy. “What we know about Brock is that he’s our guy. We have interest in Brock being around here for a long, long time,” Lynch said. “He’s done so much for our organization. He’s won big games and had a little tougher task, as we all did this year, with some of the things that happened throughout the course of the year.”

Purdy is eligible for a large contract extension, with his market value at $59.7 million annually, making him the highest-paid quarterback in the league. He could be slated for a four-year deal worth nearly $239 million, making him the 14th QB in NFL history to surpass the $200 million mark.

The 49ers are committed to keeping Purdy, and it’s likely they’ll make it happen, given his impressive resume and the team’s interest in extending his contract.
