San Francisco 49ers Wide Receiver Deebo Samuel Openly Roots for Eagles to Upset Chiefs in Super Bowl
In the latest episode of his podcast “Cleats & Convos,” 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel revealed his true feelings toward the Kansas City Chiefs, likely to tune in to watch them play in the Super Bowl on February 9. Samuel doesn’t hide his dislike for the Chiefs, especially after they defeated his team in the last two Super Bowls.
“I got all the reason to hate [the Chiefs], they beat me twice,” Samuel said. Although he respects their ability to consistently win, he is hoping the Philadelphia Eagles, led by his friend and former teammate A.J. Brown, can pull off an upset victory.
Samuel’s sentiment might be rooted in his past experience with the 49ers losing to the Chiefs in Super Bowls LIV and LV. However, the Chiefs are in pursuit of something rare – winning three consecutive Super Bowls. On the other hand, the Eagles are on a mission to make history of their own as Jalen Hurts would be the fourth quarterback to win the Lombardi Trophy after losing his first Super Bowl start.
For Samuel, personal connections with certain players might have influenced his pick. Despite feeling a “love-hate” relationship with the Chiefs, his loyalty lies with the Eagles.
