2025 is Shaping Up to be a Thrilling Year for Horror Readers
Horror readers have a lot to look forward to in 2025, with a number of exciting new releases hitting shelves throughout the year. The releases span a wide range of story types and tropes, offering something for every type of reader. From established authors to debut writers, the lineup is a mix of both big names and new voices.
Stephen King and Joe Hill are both releasing new novels, and horror icons Ronald Malfi, Stephen Graham Jones, and Grady Hendrix are also contributing to the lineup. Among the most highly anticipated releases are Grady Hendrix’s Witchcraft for Wayward Girls, Eric LaRocca’s At Dark, I Become Loathsome, and Catriona Ward’s Nowhere Burning.
Witchcraft for Wayward Girls blends horror and fantasy, following a group of young unwed mothers who discover witchcraft during their stay at an institution. As they learn to wield their newfound power, they begin to reclaim their autonomy, but at a great cost.
At Dark, I Become Loathsome is a dark and chilling novel that explores themes of grief and mortality. The story follows Ashley, a grieving individual who performs a ritual for those considering suicide. When he meets Jinx, his life spirals out of control, leading him down a dark path.
Nowhere Burning, on the other hand, is a creepy tale about two children who seek refuge in the Rocky Mountains, only to discover that the Nowhere Kids they meet are living among something dark.
Other notable releases include Joshua Hull’s 8114, a mystery-horror novel about a podcast host who uncovers dark secrets from his past; and King Sorrow, Joe Hill’s long-awaited return to the horror genre.
