Elon Musk’s support of right-wing parties ‘is really disgusting,’ German Chancellor tells CNN

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz Criticizes Elon Musk for Interfering in Election, Supporting Right-Wing Politicians

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has criticized Elon Musk for intervening in the country’s upcoming election and supporting right-wing politicians, including the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party. Scholz made the comments in an interview with CNN, expressing his disapproval of Musk’s actions, saying, “What is new is that he is intervening in favor of right-wing politicians all over Europe. And this is really disgusting, and it is not good for the democratic development in all (of) the European Union.”

Musk has been involved in the German election campaign, meeting with the leader of the AfD, Alice Weidel, and tweeting his support for the party. He has also attended an AfD rally in the city of Halle, where he made comments about the need to move on from Germany’s historical guilt over the Holocaust. Scholz reacted strongly to these comments, saying, “This is why I’m so angry about Elon Musk intervening for the far right and Elon Musk also not acting adequately to this killing of so many Jews… this is the historic responsibility we will continue to take in the future as well.”

Scholz emphasized that Germany’s historical responsibility to confront the atrocities of the Nazi regime is still important, and that it is “really disgusting” that Musk is supporting those who deny or downplay this history. He also criticized Musk’s comments on immigration and multiculturalism, saying that it is important to preserve German culture while also being open to diversity. The German election is set to take place in February, and the controversy surrounding Musk’s involvement has been a significant topic of discussion.
